Support Oppertunities:
In order to maintain a season of high-quality performances, to keep ticket prices affordable and to expand our bright future, we rely on the support of loyal patrons and subscribers of New Candlelight Theatre. As you may well know, earned income accounts for 65% of what it cost to produce a show on the New Candlelight stage. The other 35% we must raise through generous donors and corporate sponsors. All contributions are 100% tax deductible and to show our appreciation we will list your name in our playbill for the 2010 season. For more information call Maureen T. Cotellese in the box office at 302-475-2313.
What is The New Candlelight Theatre? The New Candlelight Theatre is a 501(c)3 non profit Professional Regional Theatre. Our cast and crew consists of professional actors and stage managers who are members of the Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) union as well as local actors and crew who may, if they choose, earn points towards membership in AEA. Tony Perkins, Jack Klugman, Bruce Willis, and Tony Award winner Susan Stroman all appeared on the Candlelight stage early in their careers. Many actors who have appeared on our stage since the theatre became New Candlelight Theatre have gone on to Broadway contracts, national tours, national television commercials and film. Our casts also include many former members of AEA who have moved on to a non-theatre career but still enjoy performing as an avocation. The quality of our productions equals or exceeds that of other professional theatres in nearby cities such as Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington. In fact, Candlelight’s production of Chicago in 2007 received two Barrymore Award nominations. (The Barrymore Awards are the Philadelphia region equivalent of the Tony Awards)
Where is The New Candlelight Theatre?
The theatre is nestled in the heart of historic Arden, Delaware, a village-like community that is home to artists, musicians, actors and writers. The theatre is conveniently located in northern New Castle County and draws its audience primarily from this area but also draws patrons from Pennsylvania’s Chester and Delaware Counties and southern New Jersey. About 20% of patrons attend as part of a local group or as part of a bus tour.
